**MY ISSUE**
Okay, simple as this.
I'll get the facts out of the way first.
I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
The computer has the specs that can run
L4D at max settings and games that are more
graphically intense at full settings. It's not a hardware problem.
I have verified game cache 8 times.
1st time : 4 Files Failed To Validate And Were Reacquired.
2nd-8th time : 1 File failed to Validate and was reacquired.
The Issue : Whenever I start L4D It goes to the VALVe splash at the beginning, then to the opening video, then once I skip those it shows the regular loading screen for about 5 seconds with the shadows of the survivors, then it shows that generic poster whenever you normally load in to a friends game that is playing a custom map or something. (The one that looks like the survivors are standing on a alligator back)...then it loads forever and I don't mean actually load the red circle doesn't spin, it crashes.
I've had L4D since pre-order never had this issue. I mean of course I've had to verify game cache a few times when an update didn't work properly or something.
Well I haven't played L4D1 since the Dec 18th Update, I've been terribly busy, when I went to play it today that happened..
Please tell me someone knows how to fix it. :/
There are problems close to mine but from what I saw no one had mine so here it is.
Thanks guys. Some rep is in order for any and all that can advise me in the way of fixing it without having to completely reinstall it.

**THE SOLUTION**
Here's the steps to do what I did and what led to the fix.
**Note** These are all steps that were taken after verifying game cache, if you have not done that, do so. How? Right click Steam Icon > Games > Right Click Left 4 Dead > Properties > Local Files Tab > Verify Integrity Of Game Cache
1. Turn off steam
2. go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\addons and copy the contents of that folder to a back up folder (on your desktop or something). Once you do that there should be nothing in your addons folder that is in the \left4dead\addons folder just in your backup folder.
3. Download the _master.cache I uploaded : http://www.filefront.com/15307219/_master.cache
4. go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\maps\soundcache\ and drop it in.
5. go to C:\Program Files\Steam and delete ClientRegistry.blob
6. Now restart steam, it will update.
7. Start your game it should load properly.
After all that is done, you can slowly start putting addon campaigns back,
I haven't yet but I will report back if one of them screws the game back up. Hope that helped.
(For those that are curious where I got the _master.cache if mine was missing, I had my friend upload it for me and then I put it in. Don't worry the filefront file is completely safe and it's the one I'm currently using)
